Following her estranged mother’s death, Tilda returns to a wind-scoured Atlantic island she once called home, searching for the sister who vanished there decades ago. A recent nightmare has stirred a fragment of memory of volcanic caves, mouths in the earth that swallow everything, a place where they once played.

Moving through barren landscapes and fading towns, her memories begin to blur the present. A man in a plaid shirt apears at the edges of her path, while the dream draws her steadily toward the island’s depths and into her own past.

When her husband follows her to the island and asks her to return, she chooses instead to descend.

Blurring folklore and psychology, visions and reality, BOCAS is a meditation on guilt, surrender, and the fragile act of forgiveness.
